WASHINGTON — The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced on Monday that it would be investigating allegations that DC Police crime data is not only inaccurate but is being intentionally manipulated. These allegations were first brought to light by WUSA9's exclusive reporting in 2020 .

The investigation comes as Mayor Muriel Bowser and Police Chief Pamela Smith have been using declining crime numbers to argue against President Donald Trump's push for federal law enforcement control in the District.
