CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland officer accused of driving impaired will be in court this week after he allegedly caused a crash with a sheriff’s vehicle.

Cleveland Officer Brian Brunner is charged with driving under the influence and failure to control a motor vehicle.

According to the Jennifer Ciaccia, the press secretary for Cuyahoga County, a Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) sergeant was working a part-time construction job at the corner of Lakewood Heights Boulevard and Alger Road around 1 a.m.

The sergeant was in a CCSD patrol car, according to Ciaccia.

The sergeant’s vehicle was blocking traffic for the entrance ramp of Warren Road and I-90 westbound with his front, back, and overhead lights all activated.
