CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Charleston is a hot spot for summer tourism, but with record breaking rainfall over the weekend, some businesses are feeling the impact.
Record rainfall and flash flooding hit Charleston this past weekend, which washed out one of the last big weekends of the summer tourism season.
"We weren't able to do what we had planned that day because it just poured all day long. We were running in and out on the streets" said Jenny Carreto, a Charleston tourist.
Streets in Downtown Charleston are usually filled with tourists on any given weekend in the summer. But this past weekend they were filled with over 8 inches of rainfall. Which made many areas impassable, like the Charleston Market, which is prone to flooding.
