QUEENS — A BROOKLYN MAN is facing up to 32 years in prison after a violent carjacking spree in Whitestone on Friday triggered a chaotic police response that left a detective wounded in friendly fire, prosecutors said.
Queens DA Melinda Katz announced that 28-year-old Kevin Dubuisson was arraigned on charges including robbery, assault, grand larceny, and menacing. Authorities say Dubuisson tried to steal multiple vehicles, assaulted a driver, and struck two women, including an 87-year-old, with a stolen SUV before being cornered by police.
Detective Corey Fisher, 36, was struck in the hand and leg when uniformed officers opened fire during the confrontation. He remains hospitalized with a broken leg.
Dubuisson was remanded and is due back in court Aug. 27.
