Panel seeks to shed light on convicted sex offender’s dealings; former U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta to be interviewed
The House Oversight Committee on Monday subpoenaed the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, demanding records that could provide new insights into his vast network and dealings. The subpoena, issued by Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), specifically seeks a “birthday book” that was reportedly created for Epstein by his longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
The committee has set a deadline of September 8 for the estate to turn over the documents. According to Comer, the panel believes the estate has custody of documents “that may further the Committee’s investigation and legislative goals.”
