WWSBMANATEE COUNTY, Fla. ( WWSB ) - The family of 18-year-old Giovanni Pelletier is still searching for answers after his body was discovered in a pond off I-75 in Manatee County.
Dr. Melanie Neuilly , chair of criminal justice at Washington State University, spoke with ABC7 via Zoom about the case.
Pelletier had been reported missing. Days later, deputies found him dead in a body of water near the highway. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office says, at this point, there’s no evidence of foul play.

A toxicology report is now underway and could take several weeks to complete.
Still, questions remain.
The teen’s family is now calling for a second autopsy, something Neuilly says is typically handled by a freelance forensic pathologist.
