California Republicans are petitioning the State Supreme Court to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom’s redistricting plan from the November ballot.
Republican leaders and the Dhillon Law Group announced Monday that they have filed an emergency petition with the California Supreme Court to block the plan.
Driving the news: Last week California lawmakers approved the ballot measure – Assembly Constitutional Amendment 8 – that will go before the voters on Nov. 4. • ACA 8 would usher in a new Congressional map for the next three cycles drawn to give Democrats a partisan advantage. • While Newsom said for weeks that the new maps would only go into effect if Texas goes through with its redistricting plan, lawmakers removed that condition last week, which Newsom approved when he signed ACA 8. The pla
