A Bakersfield man has pleaded guilty in federal court to aiming a laser at a sheriff’s helicopter.
Alejandro Galvan-Silvestre, 26, pleaded guilty on Monday to knowingly aiming the beam of a laser pointer at a Kern County Sheriff’s helicopter.
Driving the news: Galvan-Silvestre was drinking with his family and friends outside of his residence on Sep. 5, 2021. • He noticed the sheriff’s helicopter and began to shine the laser pointer at it. The helicopter was conducting a routine patrol in the area at the time.
What we’re watching: Galvan-Silvester will be sentenced on Nov. 17. • He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
