TRENTON, Fla. (WCJB) -Dixie County leaders, health care workers, and patients are voicing outrage after Humana announced changes that would cut ties with Andrews Healthcare Consulting, a provider many rural residents rely on for primary care.
Critics say the decision, which comes in the wake of Medicaid funding cuts, will deepen health care deserts in North Florida and put patients’ lives at risk.
“Humana should be ashamed of themselves,” said Alisa Ware, a patient with Andrews Healthcare Consulting.
Dixie County Fire Rescue Chief Darian Brown says this could also put a strain on emergency services.
