Prosecutors have filed charges against a Lake Los Angeles man accused of gunning down two men and a woman in a "broad daylight" attack in a remote desert area between Lake Los Angeles and El Mirage last week.

Alex Abel Trevino, 32, faces three counts of murder in connection with the Aug. 17 shooting , according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. He is also accused of the special circumstance of multiple murders, making him potentially eligible for the death penalty, as well as special allegations of personally using a firearm in the killings.

Following the filing of the criminal case on Friday, Aug. 22, District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the triple-killing as "a ruthless and violent attack that claimed three lives in broad daylight."
