FOXBORO — Carlton Davis is ready for some football.

After Monday’s practice in Foxboro, the veteran cornerback sounded eager to walk off one field and straight into a game, expressing utmost optimism about the Patriots’ upcoming season.

“It’s about to be lit, bro,” Davis said. “I’m excited for the city, for this team. We’ve been working hard. I’m just ready to go to war with these guys. I’m just excited about what we all can do on that field together.”

Davis has been a regular at practice after missing most of the first two weeks of camp with an unspecified injury. The 28-year-old was among the Patriots’ top additions of the offseason, when he inked a 3-year, $54 million in free agency.
