AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A job-hiring company has recently ranked Augusta as one of the worst cities for employment opportunities and wages.

Whether you agree or disagree, it’s got people talking, and many say the issue is getting their foot in the door.

Augusta is a tough job market. The unemployment rate is higher than the national average in the city, but even those with jobs feel the strain of the economy.

“I feel like a lot of pay doesn’t match most people’s rents,” said Trey Bradburn, general manager at Pizza Joint. “Forty hours is just not doing it for a lot of people.”

Bradburn hires the staff at Pizza Joint downtown, and applications are now coming from all over.
