CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — An officer placed on leave last month following a controversial arrest has been let go from the Clarksburg Police Department.
After an investigation lasting more than 30 days, during which time the officer was placed on administrative leave, the officer's employment has been ended.
"He is no longer employed with the city," said Clarksburg City Manager Tiffany Fell.
When asked about the officer's exact last day of employment Police Chief Mark Kiddy said the officer will leave the city's employ this Friday.
The investigation into the officer began after an arrest turned violent on the morning of July 18 at the intersection of Locust Avenue and Chestnut Street that began as a welfare check.
