CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — During opening statements Monday, jurors in the murder trial of Dennis Allen High were left to reconcile two completely different versions of the man, even if many of the facts in the case aren't up for debate.

Both sides agree that Dallion Corbet Lewis, 37, of Clarksburg, was assassinated Feb. 21, 2024, on rural Jack Run Road in Harrison County.

But for Chief Assistant Prosecutor Laura Pickens, High, 38, of Salem, was a key member of the kidnapping/murder plan, someone who was there for the planning, who eschewed two opportunities to get help at the Adamston Circle K, and who opened the hatch of his van's trunk to let out the alleged shooter just prior to the slaying of Lewis.
