Prince’s estate has firmly rejected allegations from Apollonia Kotero that it is attempting to take control of her name, calling her lawsuit “frivolous” and predicting it will fail, Parade reports.

Kotero, 66, who starred as Apollonia in Prince’s iconic 1984 film “Purple Rain,” filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles last week. She claims Paisley Park Enterprises, which manages the late musician’s estate, is conducting an “aggressive campaign” to seize control of her name and cancel her trademarks.

Kotero has used the name Apollonia professionally since her appearance in the film.

In a statement , Prince’s estate countered that they “never instructed her to cease using her adopted professional name, nor did we object to her business activities.”
