OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - It’s been a long time coming.
Monday, a renovation application was approved at Daviess County Fiscal Court for the Detention Center to be expanded and renovated, after first being proposed in 2023.
Daviess County Jailer, Art Maglinger, went into more detail about the renovation.
“This renovation only addresses our main building, but our main building, it gives us opportunities that we don’t have even with program spacing that we don’t currently have like restrooms and programing spacing, so it is a game changer,” Maglinger stated.
The renovation will bring additions to Building 1 in the complex, where the majority of inmates reside.
The expansion will allow for 125 more beds to be put in place, a brand new kitchen for inmate meals, and a new laundry center.
