Reddit users faced significant frustration this morning as the platform experienced a widespread outage. At its peak, over 2,000 users reported issues, primarily in the UK, around midnight, according to Down Detector. The outage has prompted a wave of complaints on other social media platforms, including X, formerly known as Twitter.

One user expressed their disbelief, stating, "I thought we built the internet so it couldn't go down? What's up with Reddit?" Many users took to the platform to share their feelings of loss and confusion. One Redditor lamented, "1 hour of Reddit being down and broken and I miss my degen sports betting friends already." Another user noted, "Good to know that Reddit is actually down, and my account isn’t banned," while a third added, "I thought I got banned from Reddit but it’s just down."

The outage predominantly affected the Reddit app, with approximately 75% of reported issues related to it. Around 15% of users experienced problems with reading or leaving comments, and 10% reported issues with the website itself. While the majority of affected users were in the UK, reports indicate that the outage also impacted users in the US.

As users continue to voice their frustrations, the heat map from Down Detector illustrates the concentration of problem reports over the past 24 hours. The platform typically registers incidents only when the volume of reports significantly exceeds the usual levels for that time of day.

The situation remains fluid as users await updates from Reddit regarding the cause and resolution of the outage.
