JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Johnson City’s mountain biking opportunities are about to expand again, this time right in town with a focus on skills development and health.
A long-hoped-for expansion of Tannery Knobs will soon be underway on about 10 acres at the southern flank of the park. It's going on a relatively flat patch of land above East Market Street that Summers-Taylor's Grant Summers plans to convey to the City of Johnson City free of charge.
“Using the funds from the Tennessee Department of Health we’ll be able to build out the connecting trails and then this progression skills park as well," Abraham McIntyre of SORBA Tri-Cities, the area's main mountain biking advocacy organization, told News Channel 11 Monday.
