The dream of playing for his hometown team is over for the massive rookie defensive lineman after he was unable to meet the team’s conditioning requirements.
TAMPA, Fla. – The Desmond Watson experiment with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is over.
The undrafted rookie defensive lineman, 6-6, 449-pound Watson, was never able to meet the Bucs’ weight requirements to get on the field and practice. So the Bucs waived Watson, per Fox Sports’ Greg Auman as he was on the non-football injury list trying to shed enough weight to be able to play.
Tampa Bay could have kept him on that list during the season, but has decided to part ways with the former Florida Gators big man.
