MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – A group of business and civic leaders is doing their part to make sure upcoming upgrades to Minot Air Force Base’s missile system stay on track.

In the coming years, the Air Force will be upgrading the Minuteman III missile system to the Sentinel across what’s known as the Global Strike Command. This means major changes to Minot, as well as bases in Montana and Wyoming.

On Monday, Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., held a roundtable discussion in Minot with key players on the progress of the project.

He stressed the need for the upgrades, the goal of upgrading all the bases at the same time and coordinating with community partners.

The project initially went well over budget, triggering an overall review of its plans.
