Two women have been arrested for animal cruelty in Russellville.
An anonymous tip was received by Hamblen County Animal Control Officers who responded to a residence on Old Russellville Pike.
“We arrived at the scene and observed two dogs tied up in the front yard,” ACO Al Smith said. “Both were extremely malnourished and one was extremely emaciated.”
Jennifer Howerton, 45, and Ariana Ingram, 27, were arrested and booked into the Hamblen County Jail on charges of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
“Each one is being held on a $50,000 bond,” Smith said. “There is a bond hearing set for (Monday).”
The bonds for each were lowered on Monday to $25,000, however, both were still in custody at the jail at time of publication.
