A potentially deadly incident saw a happy ending after emergency crews rescued a horse that fell into a Reno swimming pool early Monday.
A Washoe County Regional Emergency Services representative confirmed that a horse was rescued in a south Reno neighborhood on Aug. 25. The agency first detailed the horse rescue in a post on its official Facebook page .
According to the agency, it received an emergency call shortly after 3 a.m. that a horse had fallen into a pool at a home on Thomas Creek Road. The animal did not belong to the homeowner and was one of two horses that had gotten out of their enclosure and were wandering the neighborhood.
The horse had wandered into the yard and mistook the covered pool for a solid surface.
