SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Central Valley School District (CVSD) is welcoming students back for the school year with an important upgrade: secure lobby entrances.

Parents in the district say they now have a renewed sense of peace, believing their child is better protected while at school.

"Having these vestibules adds an extra layer of security," said Stephanie Jerdon, a parent and school board member at CVSD.

The push for safety comes from the district’s “Making School Safer Campaign.” In July, the district was able to fast-track levy dollars, making this project possible 5 years earlier than originally planned.

The new lobbies, or vestibule entrances, serve as the first safety checkpoint for all visitors — a simple but powerful way to enhance school safety.
