The family of a Deshler High School football player is seeking answers after their son, August Borden, was severely injured at school. Borden, who suffered a skull fracture and severe concussion, was hospitalized and unconscious for several days.

Kristen and Drew Vandevender, Borden's parents, received a call from the school last Tuesday to pick up their son immediately. Upon arrival, they found Borden being loaded into an ambulance with injuries so severe that he had to be airlifted to UAB Hospital.

"I think I'm still in disbelief...distraught," Kristen Vandevender said. "Seeing him airlifted and intubated, you know, it's just been so tragic."

The family disputes the school's explanation that Borden's injuries resulted from a fall. They are frustrated by the lack of surveillance camera
