A longtime fast food restaurant in Millvale has shut down after decades in business.

In a post on Facebook, former Millvale Mayor Jim Burn said the Hardee’s at 1201 North Ave. was a “cornerstone” of the community.

According to Mr. Burn, the location was the launch point of Millvale Days parades. It was also a common spot for car cruises, including one earlier this month.

“Many of us in Millvale and the Shaler area have worked there, practically all of us have been there,” Mr. Burn said in his post.

In his post, Mr. Burn said the restaurant “sadly and suddenly” closed its doors Monday after being in business for 52 years.

“One of life's only certainties is change,” Mr. Burn said. “We do not always appreciate something until it is gone. This change marks the end of an era.
