After making a trip to the WPIAL championships title match in 2023, Riverview girls soccer struggled in 2024. The Raiders were seeded low in Class 1A, and eventually bowed out in the first round of playoff competition.
Riverview (1-0, 1-0) opened up their season with a bang on Monday, defeating Greensburg Central Catholic (0-1, 0-1), 9-1.
Mia Murphy, a freshman, scored three goals to record a hat trick, while Mary Quinlan and Hannah Hudack found the back of the net twice. Senior forward Georgia Tsambis and junior defender Catie Hoolahan also recorded a goal each.
“We’ve been working a lot on connecting passes and making moves off the ball,” coach Jessica Garland said. “Mia did a good job with some nice runs. We were able to find her and connect to goal.”
