LAWRENCE, Kan. – The metro’s Jewish community says acts of antisemitism continue to rise.
New billboards sponsored by JewBelong, placed alongside Interstate 70 near Lawrence, hope to combat that concern and provide support for young Jewish people on campus at the University of Kansas.
FOX4 shared their story when that New York-based nonprofit placed a series of its glowing magenta billboards around the immediate Kansas City metro.
JewBelong and other pro-Jewish groups complain that acts of antisemitism spread an air of concern to Jewish students, and a worry that they’ll be targeted next. One of the new billboards carries the slogan “Jewish students don’t need your pity. Just your spine.”
The nonprofit’s billboards are now placed in 36 U.S. states, and near 16 college campuses so far.
