ST. LOUIS -- Locked in a tie game after rallying to take the lead and squandering it in the top of the ninth, Cardinals first baseman Alec Burleson capped a four-hit night with the first walk-off homer of his MLB career.

Burleson ripped a Statcast-projected 409-foot homer to straight-away center field in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Cardinals to a 7-6 win over the Pirates at Busch Stadium on Monday night.

Burleson was 4-for-5 with a double, a homer and two runs scored. The walk-off win was the fifth of the season for the Cardinals. Burleson’s 16th homer of the season came off a 1-1 pitch from Pirates reliever Dennis Santana.
