ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) - The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-6 Monday night on a walk-off homer in the 9th from Alec Burleson.

St. Louis led 6-5 in the top of the 9th before the Pirates tied it and forced the Cardinals to win it in their half of the inning.

Burleson finished the day going 4-5 with the game-winning home run.

With the win, the Cardinals move within 2 games of the .500 mark.

The two teams will match up Tuesday in Game 2 of the series at Busch Stadium at 6:45 p.m.
