LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - What church leaders call civil disobedience, both the library and some activists say is stealing.
This all started last year, when a member of the Reformation Church in Shelbyville noticed books in the Shelby County Public Library with LGBTQ+ themes.
The church then made a video condemning the library for carrying the books at all. After that member decided not to return them, dozens of people have pushed back, donating money and new books for the library to replace its collection.
“The community should be outraged that they have used our money this way,” Jerry Dorris and Tanner Cartwright, elders at Reformation Church, told WAVE News. They said this is what they felt when a church member brought them several books with LGBTQ+ themes from the Shelby County Publi
