DOUGLAS COUNTY, Neb. —

A Douglas County District Court judge denied post-conviction relief for a man convicted of assaulting several young boys.

A jury convicted Steve Danon, 69, in 2022 on more than a dozen charges of sexual assault . Danon was sentenced in 202 3. He's currently serving the equivalent of life in prison, becoming eligible for parole in roughly 80 years. The assaults happened from the mid-2000s to the 2010s when the victims were in their pre-teen to teenage years.

In February 2025, Danon filed a motion for postconviction relief, a motion asking for the appointment of counsel to help in his postconviction proceeding and to allow him to exceed the page count and legal formatting requirements.
