VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) - The first day of school for Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver is delayed until next week because of a strike.
On Monday, union members held a pre-strike rally at the district office.
The strike, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, was approved by over 92% of union members on August 21.
FOX 12 spoke with the president of the Evergreen PSE chapter, who said she hopes the rally will get the school district’s attention.
“We are rallying for a pre-strike. tomorrow starts the strike, and we were getting the message out to the district that we want and deserve a fair contract and we’re not afraid to walk to get it,” said Mindy Troffer-Cooper, Evergreen PSE Chapter President.
