Bernae Boykin Hitesman had an up close view of the storm, which suddenly covered her car while she was picking up her children from school in Arizona City.
The sand-colored dust surrounded the car, leaving her temporarily unable to see anything beyond the vehicle's windows.

Most of the outages were in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix.

A spokesperson for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport says planes were temporarily grounded. The ground stop had been lifted by Monday evening.
