MEDINA, Ohio – Bow hunters could find that permits for the city’s deer culling program will be less expensive this year as finance committee members have agreed to eliminate certain fees this season.

Parks and Recreation Director Jansen Wehrley recommended that the finance committee remove a section from the city’s deer control ordinance which requires applicants to pay a fee of $75 for a new deer stand location and $50 for a same stand location.

“These fees were put in place to defray expenses incurred with management of the program,” Wehrley said. “But I think we can all agree there are a lot of costs with the deer management program and these individual hunters are helping us with the program so I think it makes sense for that section to be removed.”
