Edinburgh passengers were 'forced to get off the bus' as a car got stuck in a ditch on a busy main road.

One passenger described the scenes on Clermiston Road North as "chaotic" on Tuesday morning as a blue Ford appeared to get its front wheels lodged in a hole in the road.

Roadworks are currently ongoing on the busy route and after the vehicle became stuck, traffic started to build in the area, with Lothian forced to divert services.

A service alert confirmed: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Clermiston Road North and Drum Brae Drive and are instead diverted via Queensferry Road and Drum Brae North in both directions until further notice."

The car was eventually removed.
