Two young British mothers are in a critical condition following a serious car accident in Ibiza. Lauren Holmes, 27, and her friend Ebony Cordingley, 26, suffered traumatic brain injuries after being struck by a vehicle while on holiday. The incident occurred just before 2am on the El-600 road between Ibiza and San Antonio, involving a Toyota Corolla driven by a 24-year-old Spaniard.
Both women are currently receiving treatment in intensive care. Ebony is at the private Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic, while Lauren is at Ibiza’s main Can Misses state hospital. Their families have described the situation as devastating, stating that what was meant to be a joyful holiday has turned into a nightmare.
Shannon, Ebony’s sister, has set up a GoFundMe appeal to assist with medical expenses and support for Ebony’s three young sons. She expressed the family's anguish, saying, "This sudden and devastating accident has turned our world upside down and our family is facing the most frightening time of our lives."
Shannon provided an update on Ebony’s condition, revealing that she has sustained a bleed on the brain, lung injuries, broken ribs, and multiple contusions. She stated, "She’s being classed as critical at the moment and after 2pm hopefully she’ll be categorised as serious but stable. That’s our hope anyway."
The family is also concerned about Lauren, who has two children of her own. Shannon mentioned that she could not provide an update on Lauren’s condition but confirmed that it is critical. Their mother has travelled to Ibiza to support them and is meeting with the embassy.
The Civil Guard is investigating the incident, and while the driver reportedly passed a drink-drive test, no arrests have been made. Shannon believes the women were crossing the road after a meal when they were struck, clarifying that they were not under the influence of alcohol and had spent the evening enjoying a park before the accident.
