Orange Line hits 55 miles per hour for first time

For the first time, the MBTA said trains have reached speeds of 55 miles per hour on parts of the Orange Line.

The increased speeds started on Sunday; they impact stations between Oak Grove and Assembly.

The previous maximum speed on the line was 40 miles per hour.

The T’s general manager said this was made possible because of track fixes.
