The Washington Department of Licensing said Monday that a commercial truck driver involved in a fatal crash in Florida earlier this month has no connection with a bribery scheme uncovered last year that was allegedly allowing unqualified commercial drivers to buy their way onto the road.
Harjinder Singh, 28, an Indian national who entered the United States illegally in 2018 and subsequently obtained his commercial drivers’ license from the state of Washington, was arrested earlier this month in Florida after making an illegal U-turn, causing a minivan to slam into his semi-truck. All three occupants of the minivan were killed, the police agency said.
