Construction on the newest roundabout in Thunder Bay at the entrance to the marina overpass is on schedule as crews poured green-coloured concrete into the circle on Monday.
Louie Vallelunga, owner of A1 Concrete Inc., said tinting cement involves adding coloured powder to the mixture.
"We buy the bags of coloured powder from Brock White, a building materials supplier in Thunder Bay, and we add several bags per metre of concrete," he said. "It's very expensive, but it looks great."
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, concrete was hard to obtain, stalling many construction projects throughout Northwestern Ontario.
Today, there is no shortage.
"We haven't had an issue in years. Our suppliers are very good," Vallelunga said. "We're with Lafarge, and they do a good job keeping up with us."
