INDIANAPOLIS — Indy DPW said Aug. 25 that it's closing two recycle locations in Indianapolis due to illegal dumping .
The following recycle locations, both on property owned by Kroger, are being closed at management's request:
8130 Southport Road (effective immediately)
71st Street and Binford Boulevard (effective Aug. 26)
"More bad actors are ruining recycle sites around Marion County for their fellow Hoosiers," Indy DPW said in a social media post . "We currently have no new locations willing to host recycle bins, so there will be fewer sites for recycling."
In the post, the agency reminded residents that putting a non-recyclable item in a recycle bin "contaminates everything else inside that bin," making it un-recyclable. That's considered illegal dumping and is punishable by
