After a long run or a strenuous lifting session, it feels good to stretch your muscles. In addition to preventing injury, stretching can also improve flexibility, making everyday motions a little easier.

But some people find stretching to be the least enjoyable part of exercising. So, is there a certain number of days or minutes you should stretch to make sure you're not mistreating your body?

“A few factors need to be taken into consideration,” TODAY contributor and personal trainer for the Start TODAY app Stephanie Mansour previously told TODAY.com.

“How often do you exercise, and what goals do you wish to achieve from stretching? Do you want to improve mobility, flexibility or performance? The answers may increase the frequency and type of stretching you do.”
