ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The mother of a student accused of shooting a toilet in a Gwinnett County elementary school has been arrested for failing to secure the gun in her home, according to arrest warrants.

Officials with Gwinnett County Public Schools said a student brought a gun to Meadowcreek Elementary School on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 14, and fired it into a toilet in a school bathroom.

No one was injured in the incident, according to the district.

Officials said the student who allegedly fired the gun had previously “threatened to use it to shoot the toilet.” They said the student was arrested soon after the incident and is facing criminal charges.
