THE NFL's heaviest player will not get a chance to compete this season.

Desmond Watson, the University of Florida product signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , did not make the team's final roster.

Watson was signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent this offseason, but was immediately put on a weight loss program.

Watson weighed an incredible 464 pounds, the heaviest weight in NFL history, but the Buccaneers would not allow him to play at that weight.

During training camp and preseason, team general manager Jason Licht laid out what Watson had to do to get on the field.

"We have some milestones we want him to hit before we get him out there," he said.

"He's doing a solid job getting there. That's all I'll say."
