Cicero, N.Y. — A man who died in a Cicero house fire last week has been identified, deputies said.
The man who died was Raymond Brand, 68, according to Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Thomas Newton.
Brand was pronounced dead inside his home at 5701 Caughdenoy Road last Monday.
Firefighters arriving on the scene did not hear any smoke alarms and none were found in the home by fire investigators, according to Jim Perrin, the Cicero fire chief.
Last week, Perrin said there were signs of extensive hoarding throughout the house and garage. That made it hard to fight the fire and get to the person, he said.
“There was only a narrow path,” Perrin said. “Everything else was piled from floor to ceiling.”
