With September on the horizon, it is time to start thinking about cosy autumn days out and staycations. While summer is understandably the most popular time of year for a holiday, in many ways Scotland truly comes alive over the autumn.

The summer months are a great time to visit the country's gorgeous coast, but autumn is perfect to soak in the beauty of Scotland's forests. There are plenty of Scottish staycation spots surrounded by idyllic woodland, but few are as lovely as Blairgowrie and Rattray.

Blairgowrie and Rattray is a twin burgh situated in Perth and Kinross that is known by locals as 'Blair'. It is located north of the city of Perth, along the banks of the River Ericht.
