David Equi has confirmed he has stepped down as Accies Supporters’ Association chairman, citing online abuse as a major factor. ‌

The ASA will be in the hands of vice-chair Brandon Coghill and treasurer Colin Hamilton, until another chair is appointed. ‌

Mr Equi's exit comes amid a clash with a fellow fan during Hamilton's 2-1 defeat at home to East Fife earlier this week, but he strongly denies allegations that he assaulted a supporter at Broadwood. ‌

He says he remains an Accies supporter, but says his family “have been through enough”.
