CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Bruce Jovon Williams, a 34-year-old resident of Cedar Rapids, has pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of a firearm by a felon.

On August 28, 2024, a woman reported to law enforcement that Williams had physically assaulted her and hit her with a gun. Officers found Williams, who fled into a nearby backyard and hid in a small garage. He was apprehended by a K9 unit, and a firearm was found nearby.

Williams has two prior felony convictions for theft. He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Sentencing will be scheduled after a presentence report is prepared.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force, including the FBI, Cedar Rapids Police Department, and Marion Police Department, investigated the case. A
