Billings police detained a man after responding to a shooting at 4 a.m. Tuesday in midtown.

Police responded to the shots fired near 19th Street West and Alderson Avenue, according to a BPD social media post . No injuries were reported and the shooter was located.

The 20-year-old was detained by police and later transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation. The name of the individual was not provided. Police said there was no threat to the public.
