A suspect was arrested by the Sidney Police Department Monday following a domestic disturbance that turned into an 18-hour-long armed hostage situation, according to a press release .
Sidney police responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Officers determined that 48-year-old Sidney resident Dean Wick was armed with a firearm and was not allowing a woman inside the residence to leave.
The officers established a perimeter and made contact with Wick by phone. They unsuccessfully tried to negotiate the release of the woman over the course of the next several hours.
Around 5 a.m. on Monday, Sidney police called for assistance from the Billings Police Department and the Yellowstone County Sherriff's office, seeking hostage negotiators, an armored vehicle and ot
