Whilst the eyes of London were cast firmly on Notting Hill Carnival this weekend, numerous serious incidents were called in away away from the festivities. These include a stabbing in Romford and a fatal 'strangulation' in Lewisham.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection, with one due to make his first court appearance later today. People from Sidcup and Hounslow have also been taken into custody on suspicion of various crimes.

It follows news that the Metropolitan Police made more than 400 Carnival arrests between Sunday morning and Monday evening. This is almost 70 more than last year.

Despite the bleak news, the latest figures from May 2024 to April 2025 showed a three per cent drop in violent crime overall across the capital compared to the same period during the previous yea
